Indian Fellow Loretta Miranda Speaks at American Indian Child Resource Center

On April 10, 2017, Berkey Williams Indian Law Fellow Loretta Miranda was invited to speak to a group of Native American youth in Oakland, CA. Loretta spoke candidly to the youth about her experiences, from growing up on a reservation to graduating from law school. The group consisted of youth from the American Indian Child Resource Center in Oakland (http://aicrc.org/) and Local Indians for Education, Inc. (LIFE INC.) (http://localindiansforeducation.weebly.com/) in Shasta County. The LIFE INC. youth group visits the Bay Area annually with funds received from a law enforcement grant. During this trip, the LIFE INC. youth took tours of UC Berkeley and the California Supreme Court. The youth also attended a San Francisco Giants game. Loretta is honored to speak about her experiences and hopes to serve as a mentor and encourage as many Native youth as possible to attend law school.
