Associate Erica Costa elected to the Board of Directors of the California Indian Law Association (CILA)

At the association’s 18th annual conference at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, CA, Ms. Erica Costa was nominated and elected to the Board of Directors of the California Indian Law Association (CILA).  CILA is a volunteer based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the Indian law legal profession and tribal justice systems in California. CILA seeks to provide quality educational programs to Indian law practitioners, tribal justice personnel, law students and the public.  The organization also works to promote the study of Indian law and related topics in public and higher education and to provide guidance and assistance, through mentoring, scholarships and other activities, to Native American students in their pursuit of law studies and the legal profession.  Ms. Costa currently serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors.  Ms. Costa also serves on CILA’s Pipeline Committee, a committee dedicated to increasing the number of Native people in the legal profession, from graduating high school to serving on the bench.  As part of that Pipeline Committee, Ms. Costa is working to provide law school admission assistance and guidance to Native undergraduate students.
